Understanding The Owner

Hello, my name is Xavier Delano, and I'm dedicated to providing compassionate and effective counseling services. While I was born in California, my upbringing as a "military brat" led to a nomadic lifestyle, shaping my adaptability and broad perspective. After graduating high school in Virginia, I proudly served in the Air Force. Upon completing my service, I chose to establish my roots in Texas, a state that has always felt like home due to frequent family visits throughout my life.

My Journey to Becoming a Counselor

You might wonder what led me to a career in counseling after my military service. Like many, I've navigated personal challenges and found immense healing through counseling. The exceptional care I received during my time in the Air Force profoundly impacted me. This transformative experience inspired me to dedicate my life to helping others, just as I was helped. I am passionate about offering affordable, high-quality care because I believe that restoring a heart and mind, one person at a time, is far more valuable than financial gain. I believe that financial barriers shouldn't stand in the way of mental wellness. For individuals who are deeply committed to their healing journey but facing financial constraints, I offer a flexible sliding-scale fee structure to make quality care accessible.

Establishing this practice allows me the freedom and flexibility to offer personalized coaching and counseling. My goal is to provide focused attention to your concerns, offering fresh perspectives and deeper understanding of the challenges you may be facing.

Empowering Healing, Growth, and True Representation

Finding a therapist who truly understands your unique narrative can be a transformative step. As one of the very few Black male therapists in the Sugar Land area, I bring a vital perspective to the mental health landscape. My practice is deeply rooted in cultural competence and a profound sensitivity to diverse groups, ensuring that individuals from all walks of life feel seen, heard, and fundamentally safe in my care.

My mission goes beyond standard counseling; I am dedicated to bridging the gaps in care where mental health and substance use intersect—areas that are too often overlooked. By blending advanced clinical training with genuine empathy, my goal is to guide you toward lasting, meaningful healing.

My Scope of Practice & Credentials

I believe in holistic, evidence-based care. My specialized training equips me to address complex mental health challenges, crisis intervention, and substance use disorders, utilizing creative and proven modalities like Sandtray Therapy to help clients process what words sometimes cannot express.

To ensure transparency and align with state regulations, here is how my current licenses allow me to serve you:

  • Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A): I am fully qualified to provide high-level mental health therapy. In accordance with Texas state law, I practice under the clinical supervision of Khandyce Pitner, M.Ed., LPC-S, while actively working toward independent licensure. This ensures your care is backed by a collaborative network of clinical expertise.

  • Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC): Having rigorously completed 4,000 hours of supervised clinical training and face-to-face group counseling, I am fully licensed to provide specialized substance abuse and addiction counseling.

A Foundation Built on Clinical Excellence

My approach to therapy is backed by over eight years of invaluable experience working within Psychiatric Hospitals, Outpatient Clinics, Detox Facilities, and as a Program Director for Medication-Assisted Treatment Programs (MAT). This environment gave me a frontline understanding of the intricate, powerful connection between severe mental health conditions and addiction.

My academic and clinical journey reflects an unwavering commitment to bringing the highest level of skill to our sessions:

  • Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling Education and Supervision with Emphasis in Marriage, Family, and Couples Counseling (Walden University). Currently Enrolled.

  • Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (Texas A&M University-Kingsville), alongside specialized Graduate Certificates in Rural Mental Health, Crisis Intervention & Rural Leadership, and Sandtray Therapy.

  • Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a Minor in Sociology (University of Houston-Downtown).

  • Associate’s in Multidisciplinary Studies (Houston Community College), specializing in Psychology and Addiction studies.

Vision for Advanced Care

True mastery requires lifelong learning. I am currently pursuing my Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision at Walden University. Following the completion of my doctorate, I plan to further expand my scope of practice by obtaining my Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) credential. Every step of my advanced education is driven by a singular purpose: to offer you the most comprehensive, versatile, and effective treatment options available.

You do not have to navigate life's complexities alone. I look forward to partnering with you and supporting you on your journey toward healing, clarity, and growth.
